The release date for the highly anticipated BioWare RPG, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, has been announced.
The release date, set for Halloween day, October 31, was revealed in a new trailer on the official Dragon Age YouTube channel. The trailer featured many action-packed scenes, dramatic story snippets, new characters, and brief glimpses into romance.
Notably, it had the reappearance of fan-favorite character, Morrigan, a baby griffon — said to be nearly extinct according to Dragon Age lore, and what looks to be a silly walking skeleton with gemstones for eyes.
The trailer comes after a string of speed bumps. The first trailer, revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase in June, left a sour taste among many fans. Soon after, BioWare revealed a deep dive into gameplay that quieted some of the discordant noise. Game Informer had exclusive coverage of the new Dragon Age title, but suddenly and unexpectedly shut down leaving a gap in coverage for the new RPG. BioWare looks to reboot its coverage and marketing beginning with this release date trailer followed by a string of other coverage events in the coming days and months as revealed in a post on Twitter/X.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is BioWare’s most substantial and important release in years. With disappointing titles in recent years from Anthem to Mass Effect: Andromeda, BioWare hopes to bounce back and return to its roots through Dragon Age. Players won’t have long before they can judge for themselves if this effort was worth it when Dragon Age: The Veilguard launches on October 31 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
