Free content update for Dead Island 2 coming in October

Immune survivors better get ready to dive back into the zombie playground of Dead Island 2 — a new update is on the way. Hell-A is about to get a lot more dangerous, and it’s not just the zombies getting stronger.

Announced via a press release, Dead Island 2 is set to receive a New Game Plus mode on October 22. This update will significantly alter the game experience, introducing new challenges, enemies, skill slots, and increased difficulty.

In addition to the New Game Plus mode, a new cooperative horde mode, Neighborhood Watch, is also on the horizon. In this mode, players will defend the local frat house from waves of the undead. Teams of three will be able to unlock abilities, weapons, and skins as they battle through the onslaught.

With this steady stream of free content, developer Dambuster Studios is committed to meeting fan expectations—something they struggled with at the original release. Both of the premium add-ons, Haus and SoLA, were well received, and fans have been eagerly awaiting news of additional content. The upcoming Neighborhood Watch mode provides new material for players to enjoy while they wait for any further announcements from publisher Deep Silver about the future of Dead Island 2.
