Iron Lung developer David Szymanski has responded to the backlash of bumping the game’s price up $2 with a rather scathing but to-the-point TLDR to those complaining. The game has spent a good deal of its life priced at $6 until a $2 price increase happened earlier this year, leading to a couple more negative reviews and some pushback on social media.
Szymanski responded on Twitter, stating he only raised the price because the game is now worth that price, and if they don’t agree then he doesn’t want their money. He goes on to explain that they can not buy them, wait for a deep sale, or — for all he cares — hit the seven seas, if you catch our drift.
He also pointed out that he’s making games for a living and that the argument of “he’s only in it for the money” doesn’t faze him that much, as, of course, he does need to be paid. He assured fans, though, that this is the only planned price hike, and he doesn’t suspect he will bump it up any more than $8 as he feels that’s unfair.
Frankly, a good deal of people who didn’t like the price change seemed more like those who believe the longer you can play a game, the more worth the money it is. While that mindset has its place in the industry with games that focus on open worlds and RPGs, when it comes to smaller-budget indies like Iron Lung with a compelling premise and narrative, it’s all about the impact of the game.
Since people keep trying to gotcha me over this… once again, Iron Lung's price went up because the game is worth $8 so I want to charge $8, because I want to earn more money. If you don't agree with this price, I don't want your money. Go pirate it or something idc.
