Arkane Lyon’s next venture into the gaming scene, Marvel’s Blade, is reportedly eyeing a 2027 release window, potentially as a launch title for the next Xbox. Meanwhile, the game’s platforms are still uncertain, as neither party is commenting on it.
Industry insider Jeff Grubb (shared by Idle Sloth) sparked the rumor during an episode of the XboxEra Podcast. This would mark the game as six years after Lyon’s last game — Deathloop — which was released as a PlayStation timed exclusive inked ahead of Microsoft’s Bethesda acquisition. If it does turn out to be an exclusive to Xbox, which often gets overshadowed by PlayStation and its Game Pass leading to potentially fewer sales, we could see it selling rather rough, especially compared to its PlayStation counterparts like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 or its precursors. If its release window is accurate, we’d also bet Wolverine will sell like hotcakes.
Alongside this, the insider alleges that Marvel’s Blade will be released as a cross-gen game with whatever Xbox names its next console as releasing alongside Series X|S versions. While we’d like to say this game will be a multi-plat, we’d hedge our bets that this won’t be the case, and it will follow the trend of recent games associated with Bethesda, like Redfall, Hi-Fi Rush, and the much-anticipated space-faring sim, Starfield.
