Nintendo has a mysterious game codenamed “Banquet” in the works

Nintendo supposedly has a new game in the works under the codename Banquet. Very little is known, but it does come from a decently reputable source, albeit not normally within the Nintendo space.

Sega and Atlus insider Midori revealed in a concise recent tweet that Big N is working on a game under the codename. The IP it’s associated to is a mystery, whether it’s a brand-new IP is unknown, and generally speaking, we can’t even say how far into development it is.

People speculate that it’s a Kirby game, as the series is known to use food-like codenames, such as Donut (Kirby’s Dream Collection: Special Edition), Lime (Team Kirby Clash Deluxe), Breakfast (Kirby’s Dream Buffet), and more. It’s all too possible Banquet is a brand-new Kirby game, perhaps either as a swan-song before the Switch 2 comes out, maybe as a game bridging the generations, or perhaps even a debut game for the upgrade.

While it seems cheap to just assume something is a “Switch 2” game, it’s basically an open secret that a new Switch is on the horizon, with 2025 being the release window thrown around. Obviously, little is known, so we can only speculate, but we’re gonna stop short of speculating a release window.
