Seemingly out of nowhere, Watch Dogs Legion has received a brand-new update on the PlayStation platform. This update, which registers as 1.25 on PS4 and 1.191 on PS5, comes over two years after developer Ubisoft announced the end of support for Watch Dogs Legion.
The update (as spotted by MP1st), which has no patch notes on either of the two PlayStation systems, came on the day of The Game Awards and has piqued the interest of many in the community who are curious about what this update added or if it could have easter eggs for a potential sequel.Â
Until now, the Watch Dogs series has remained dormant as Ubisoft has shifted gears towards wider Assassin’s Creed support, Skull and Bones, and other projects. This update could be nothing more than a bug fix or patch, but for long-time fans, there is a chance Watch Dogs may be revisited.
The release of the update on the date of The Game Awards could all be a coincidence, after all. This update could be a signal of the online functionality of the game being taken down, including the currently rotating seasons. The update could just be a simple bug patch. Currently, Watch Dogs Legion is in Season 14.
