Over two years since the character’s background animated appearance, the Black and White Spider returns… on the TV screen via streaming.
Last Thursday, Amazon dropped the trailer for their upcoming Marvel TV series starring Nicolas Cage: Spider-Noir. An extra draw to this trailer is that it promotes two options for viewers to watch the series – Black and White or full color (advertised as True-Hue Full Color).
Chances are, many Spidey fans may already know the character from the 2018 animated Sony movie Spider-Man: Into The Spider-verse and its 2023 sequel Across The Spider-Verse, where he was also portrayed by Nicolas Cage. However, its somewhat vague though unlikely, that this version of the character is the same as from the Spider-verse films. Even then, the series looks to carry the basics of Spider-Noir: Ben Reilly is a private investigator in 1930s New York who is the city’s only superhero, as well as being a much older and more distinct character than the tried and true high school/college student Peter Parker.
As reported by GamesRadar, Spider-Noir is set to not only premiere on Prime Video on May 27, but will also premiere two days early on MGM+. Aside from Nic Cage himself, the series cast includes Li Jun Li, Lamorne Morris, Brendan Gleeson, and Jack Huston. All episodes will drop at once rather than on a weekly basis.
