Oswald the Lucky Rabbit Jon Favreau-led series in the works

Animated icon, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, is making a triumphant return to the small screen in a Jon Favreau-led animated/live-action hybrid series.

Deadline reports Favreau will write and produce the project, but little else is known about it. While Disney acquired the copyright to the character after a stint at Universal, which likely led to just how hard Disney fights copyright, this is still a big moment. That said, Oswald is now in the public domain.

Favreau has become kind of a big deal to the Star Wars community and Disney as a whole, being the big man behind Disney Plus’ The Mandalorian alongside The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. He’s also working on The Mandalorian and Grogu, set to release next year.

Outside of Star Wars, he’s also produced the live action The Jungle Book, live action The Lion King, Avengers: Endgame, and more.
