New Nolan film, The Odyssey, pegs Matt Damon as Odysseus

Following the mega-success of 2023’s biopic Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan’s next picture, The Odyssey, is gonna star Matt Damon, and hits theaters July 26, 2026.

Universal Pictures takes to Twitter to share first details about the film, including a single still showing off award-winning Damon donned in Ancient Greek attire.

“Christopher Nolan’s next film ‘The Odyssey’ is a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology. The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX film screens for the first time and opens in theaters everywhere on July 17, 2026.”

The film is a retelling of Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, and his journey trying to travel back home following the Trojan War. No further casting or details were shared at this time.
