Nintendo acquires Switch port maker Shiver Entertainment

Switch port maker Shiver Entertainment is now under the Nintendo banner after talks between the Japanese giant and former parent Embracer Group. The dev was in charge of ports of Hogwarts Legacy and Mortal Kombat 1.

Nintendo shared a press release announcing the acquisition. Its main goal is to have “high-level resources” for porting games. That said, as it stands, nothing changes for the port maker, it will continue to accept commission work from other studios to aid in developing ports to multiple platforms.

“By welcoming Shiverโ€™s experienced and accomplished development team, Nintendo aims to secure high-level resources for porting and developing software titles.”

Considering Nintendo is raring to share what’s next for the Japanese console maker’s consoles, we can’t help but feel Shiver’s acquisition will help Nintendo make solid ports of high-profile games for the next console, which is set to be revealed sometime this fiscal year.
