Review Policy

Establishing early trust in critique is vital for the growth of any small media, and that’s why Smash Jump is transparent about our review score policy.

Review Scale

Smash Jump — like many others in the industry — offers a score, which is simple, to-the-point, and easy to understand. Read our scale below.

10/10 — Masterpiece

These games are the cream of the crop; we can’t say enough nice things about them. To us, they are must-plays for most any gamer. We were left perfectly content with the overall experience. Flaws may be present, but their high quality is enough to outweigh any potential snags.

Alan Wake 2: The Lake House

9/10 — Superb

These games aren’t masterpieces, but we still highly recommend everyone give them a chance. By the end of the experience, we were adequately impressed.

Promenade
Astro Bot
Thank Goodness You’re Here
Super Mario Party Jamboree

8/10 — Great

These games did some things right but failed to leave a lasting impression. Still, these are great games worth playing, but perhaps not for those expecting the absolute best of the best.

Black Myth: Wukong
Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP
Silent Hill 2 Remake
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

7/10 — Good

These games could’ve used more time to better themselves. They aren’t horrible, but some issues rear their heads. We do recommend these games, but perhaps wait until it goes on sale or patches are implemented.

Penny’s Big Breakaway
Botany Manor
Five Nights At Freddy’s Into The Pit
Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2

6/10 — Fair

These games need a specific kind of person, be it a fan of the genre or franchise or someone who is willing to take the risk on a game that will probably leave you dissatisfied.

Choo-Choo Charles
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
Starfield: Shattered Space
A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead

5/10 — Middling

These games needed more time to further develop. They lack polish and quality when compared to their contemporaries. We wouldn’t recommend them, but there’s at least a couple of positives in this otherwise mediocre experience.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
Ufouria: The Saga 2
Star Wars Battlefront: Classic Collection
Deathbound

4/10 — Poor

These games will usually find a way to make you really realize that you wasted your money. They are low-quality products with backwards design, poor writing, generally weak on a technical level, and can only find itself worth a sale price.

Skull and Bones

3/10 — Plain Bad

These games will usually have a story that is abhorrent, gameplay that is broken, and a forgettable line of characters, and usually a mix of qualities that buckle under their own weight fail to deliver anything of value. We wouldn’t recommend these to anyone.

2/10 — Downright Terrible

Most of its features are unbearable, and we can’t recommend any of these games to any sane human being… only those seeking a miserable experience might find a kernel of enjoyment.

1/10 — Hell

Reserved for the worst of the worst, these games do not function. These are games we actively discourage you from purchasing or playing.
