Mortal Kombat 1 Switch version misses out on crossplay

Despite strong support for its Switch version, it seems NetherRealm Studios is going to leave the hybrid console out of crossplay functionality. Players on other consoles, though, can soon fatality each other.

As reported by EventHubs, during the recent Kombat Kast, the event shined light onto crossplay, a feature that Mortal Kombat 11’s Switch version omitted, isn’t heading to the hybrid when it launches in early 2024. It’s certainly disappointing, but also expected, as it simply doesn’t seem the most fair to pit a person playing on the Switch against someone clobbering a controller.

Now, it isn’t impossible for the Switch version to get a crossplay version later down the line, but we wouldn’t bet on it, as this time aroun, unlike MK 11, PC is bundled together from the get-go. If you were playing its the 2019 fighter, you’d remember that PC stuck by Switch’s side for a while, getting the cold shoulder from NetherRealm.

Until February 2024, players will have to continue to duke it out with people using their own console family.
