Activision has shut down the hotly anticipated H2M mod, which had just shared its release date mere hours before the shutdown. The mod ironically caused a surge of attention for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered.
H2M planned to release on Friday but has announced on Twitter that Activision sent the team a cease and desist, which of course, it’s complying with.
The mod was poised to refresh the multiplayer aspect of Modern Warfare Remastered. It would feature 50 maps spanning already existing maps and remade maps from the original, introduce an updated progression system, and add the original suite of Modern Warfare killstreaks. New attachments and camos were also on the table.
The mod drummed up enough hype that it even caused a surge of attention to the remaster. Now, it should be noted, Activision halting production of the mod isn’t that surprising. While fans really enjoy the prospect of the mod, it does change the game and could break stuff within matches for those who don’t have it. So while it sucks for the people who were eagerly awaiting the mod, it was bound to get the cease and desist hammer.
