Rugrats is getting the live action CGI film

Classic Nickelodeon animated show, Rugrats, is getting the live action adaptation… sorta. The flick will use CGI to give us the iconic babies.

Deadline reports the flick is being helmed by Pitch Perfect director Jason Moore in the director’s chair under Paramount Pictures. Variety shed more light on what will be CGI, namely the actual babies. It was likened to Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog film, which had the titular game character surrounded by live action actors while being made entirely with CGI.

Script wise, Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell, both with credits from Saturday Night Live, are on board. Beyond that, there isn’t much else we know. We can’t imagine how the film will look with the babies wandering a real environment while the adults in their lives are real people.

Naturally, as this is a very early report of Paramount’s live action hybrid film, we don’t have any clues for casting or a timeline for filming.
