It’s been uncovered that Bethesda’s multiplayer romp set in the Fallout universe, Fallout 76, has surpassed 17 million total players. This is a pretty substantial increase, considering that back in June, it was confirmed to be 15 million.
As the year is slowly coming to an end, Bethesda revealed in a recent blog post that the game passed that milestone. Alongside that, it outlined a roadmap of content for the game detailing its future throughout 2024. The roadmap points to a fair few big inclusions like new maps, characters, factions, and quests added to the base game.
It’s a breath of fresh air to see Fallout 76 getting a second wind after the game’s less-than-stellar launch back in 2018. Riddled by poor optimization, an ambitious goal with not a lot of substance, pre-order stuff being poor quality — or sometimes dangerous — and a simplistic questline that left many disappointed, it failed drastically. But, all seems to be coming up Bethesda after patches galore and content updates rolled out.
It kind of felt like it had a No Man’s Sky moment — launching in such a bad state and then pulling it back up and making it better for its surviving audience. We can all hope this will continue to be on the rise, for those who enjoy Bethesda’s brand of RPG with a dash of community.
