My Hero Academia fans will be enlightened to hear that not only a new season is coming out next year but a new series set within the same universe has been planned for an anime adaptation.

Crunchyroll News wrote that in the Jump Festa 2025 stage event for My Hero Academia, it’s been announced that the eighth and final season will be released next autumn in 2025. But on a more surprising note, the spin-off manga My Hero Academia: Vigilantes will be receiving a television anime in April 2025, which is surprisingly sooner than expected.

A teaser trailer was uploaded on Toho Animation’s YouTube account.

There’s also the first visual that was posted on the official X account of the upcoming spin-off.

The staff of the anime has also been unveiled with Kenichi Suzuki (Cells at Work!) directing the anime at Bones Film and Yōsuke Kuroda (Birdie Wing -Golf Girls’ Story-) handling the scripts. Takahiko Yoshida (Welcome to the NHK) will be designing the characters and the anime’s soundtrack will be done by three composers including Yuki Hayashi (Haikyu!!), Shōgo Yamashiro, and Yūki Furuhashi.

Furthermore, Yukihiro Watanabe (Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic) will serve as art director whereas Haruko Nobori (Migi and Dali) will work on color design. Other staff includes Yingying Zhang (T・P BON) as director of photography, Mizuki Sasaki (My Hero Academia: You’re Next) as 3DCG director, Kiyoshi Hirose (My New Boss Is Goofy) as editor, and Masafumi Mima (Fullmetal Alchemist) as sound director.

My Hero Academia: Vigilantes was written by Hideyuki Furuhashi and drawn by Betten Court. It was first published in the Shonen Jump GIGA magazine in August 2016 but then relaunched digitally on Shonen Jump Plus in December 2016. The manga finished in May 2022 with 15 collected volumes and VIZ Media publishes the manga in English.

VIZ Media also describes the story:

Koichi Haimawari couldn’t make the cut to become an official hero, so he uses his modest Quirk to do good deeds in his spare time. Then one day a fateful encounter with some local thugs leads him to team up with two other unlikely heroes. None of them really know what they’re doing, but they’ve got the courage—or foolishness—to try. But they soon discover fighting evil takes more than just being brave…
