Marvel Rivals introduce bots if you lose too many matches in a row

You may be more likely to be dropped into bot-infested match if you can’t nab a win here and there in Quickplay. Frankly, odds are NetEase is well-aware of the bots and believe the feature to be a benefit.

Community member ciaranxy shared on Reddit (via MP1st) an extensive report on Quickplay matches and how it seems Marvel Rivals have bots that join matches of players who can’t get a win. Should NetEase be behind this, it’s assumed to be a tactic to keep players playing; winning matches all the time isn”t fun, but neither is losing them. As a precaution, it seems these bots play so badly you’re basically promised a win.

According to the report, these are some important things to know about these botted matches.

  • Bots only appear in Quickplay not Competitive
  • After two consecutive losses, your chances of being put into a bot lobby in Quickplay are very high.
  • If put into a bot lobby, it will be 4 human teammates + 2 bot teammates VS 6 bot opponents.
  • You will be penalized for leaving these bot lobbies.
  • All bots are Account Level 1.
  • All bot profiles have โ€œrestricted accessโ€ (as opposed to โ€œlimited accessโ€ for human profiles).

Meanwhile, the user hopes players get mad at the introduction of bots that basically guarantee wins. Word of mouth is needed as most likely, NetEase won’t change these bots as in the end, the logical thing is to keep player retention high, and this is a way to do it, according to ciaranxy.

  1. NetEase most likely knows that there are bots in Quickplay.
  2. These bots in Quickplay help to retain players by inflating their sense of skill.
  3. Players invest time into the game which makes it more likely players will buy the BattlePass/spend money on the Store.
  4. Players will eventually find out about bots, but NetEase will not make any changes until the community is REALLY angry about it.
  5. NetEase will then relent, apologize, and patch the bots out.

In our review, we said: “If youโ€™re not into multiplayer, itโ€™s at least worth a shot because itโ€™s free-to-play. NetEase released Marvel Rivals at just the perfect time. We will see how far they can take this very strong launch, but currently, this game is a blast! Itโ€™s a must-play for Marvel fans, shooter fans, and especially Overwatch fans.”
