Sony isn’t keen on any sort of live action Miles Morales after solidifying his place within the animation world. Now, he will still end up in a live action project, but it won’t be until Sony finishes Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.
Per Variety (via IGN), when asked about the character making the leap into live action, Marvel has its hands tied as Sony is the one with Morales’ film rights, so without permissions from it, Marvel can’t adapt the character.
Now, Morales does exist in the MCU, but has never been seen. In the Tom Holland’s first full appearance as Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Homecoming, we do meet Morales’ uncle who mentions his nephew who lives in New York. People speculate that Morales may take the reigns from Holland, who has said he doesn’t want to play the character forever, in future Spider-Man films.
None of this is confirmed, of course, and we’ll just have to wait and see how things play out, but it’ll be at bare minimum 2027 before we’re likely to see Miles Morales’ Spider-Man grace our screen in a live action setting.
