Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has been “doing very well”

While Final Fantasy VII Rebirth seemingly failed sales expectations Square Enix set forth, it seems game director Naoki Hamaguchi isn’t too concerned. Fans don’t have to worry, the third entry is progressing well.

Speaking with Automaton, Hamaguchi expressed that the game has actually “been doing very well” on PS5 and PC. Its success, of course, means fans shouldn’t be worried about the third entry and that it’ll be able to deliver something high-quality.

“The second entry, FFVII Rebirth, has been doing very well on both PS5 and PC. I know some fans have expressed concerns, but please rest assured, we’ll be able to deliver a proper, high-quality third installment.”

Meanwhile, when asked how the game’s development is going, Hamaguchi said it’s going “extremely well” and that the game’s “shaping up nicely.” He’s even noted that a good chunk of content is playable.

“Development is going extremely well, and the game is shaping up nicely. A lot of the content is already playable, and the game’s direction and form are firmly set in place. Right now, the team is united around refining everything.”

Right now, there isn’t any word on when the third entry will launch, but it is progressing as planned, it seems.
