Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the latest Assassin’s Creed with a nostalgic return to form design. This entry paid respects to where the series originated before shifting to a more modern RPG system. Despite the previous launch of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Ubisoft is expanding Basim’s past with the anticipated DLC, Valley of Memory.
Ubisoft Bordeaux presented an overview of the dev celebrating the second anniversary of Assassin’s Creed Mirage through the gameโs Anniversary Announce Stream. The free DLC expansion will welcome Basim into a new setting: the Valley of AlUla. The new location is faithfully designed with different regions for Basim to explore, such as a populated town to a soothing oasis. The Creative Director, Olivier, explained what made the setting the most ideal for Basim’s development to take place.
โYou have to know that the AlUla is actually right in the middle of the Incense Road that would run from the Arabian Peninsula to the Mediterranean Sea carrying incense to Europe. So there’s a lot of activity here and anyone traveling to AlUla would bring with them goods that they would trade with the local population. So it created wealth; it created a lot of activity. And that’s why we wanted to send Basim there.โ
The free expansion won’t just introduce new areas, but also include new mechanics, quests, parkour challenges, and adversaries. Basim will face any challenge to find the truth relating to his father before the final events of the base game.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage has only improved with new platform releases and updates like permadeath, new game+, and improved parkour.
The free story update will launch on November 18, making the game more like a love letter to Assassin’s Creed fans.
