Valve has recently announced new hardware to expand the Steam family. The Steam Controller, Steam Machine, and Steam Frame provide more accessibility for the Steam library while connecting well with other PC devices. The new Steam hardware is scheduled for launch in early 2026
Steam is entering the console market with its newly announced hardware: Steam Machine. The new PC console is outfitted with Semi-Custom AMD RDNA3 28CUs and Semi-custom AMD Zen 4 6C / 12T, accumulating six times more power than the Steam Deck. It will launch with 512 GB and 2 TB models, that’s expandable through microSD cards. This also makes the Steam Machine follow its own unique verification program similar to the Steam Deck.
The Steam Frame is a wireless VR headset that plays both VR and non-VR games with its Steam Frame controllers. It also works as a standalone accessory with SteamOS implementation through the Snapdragon 8 Series Processor and Steam Frame verification.
The Steam Controller offers the most convenient way to play Steam games designed for consoles or PC. It doesn’t just include buttons and track pads, but also gyro and motion controls for an immersive experience. It can also connect to a Steam Controller Puck wirelessly for play or convenient charging. It isn’t a PC, but it will play wherever Steam is active from a PC, Steam Machine, Steam Deck, or Steam Frame.
