Sony announces new Bloodborne film produced by Jacksepticeye

Sony Pictures participated in Cinemacon 2026 to announce a few new projects, including Spider-Man Beyond the Spider-Verse and Resident Evil movies. The most surprising announcement is Sony making a film adaptation of one of its exclusive IPs from 2015, Bloodborne. The Bloodborne movie is confirmed to be in development as a rated-R animated film, with one of its producers revealed as Seán William McLoughlin, also known as Jacksepticeye.

Bloodborne is an action-adventure game produced by the combined work of Sony and FromSoftware. Compared to other Dark Souls-inspired games, it stands out from its immersive, Gothic Victorian world with an engaging narrative relating to the significance of blood and hunting. Since its new film portrayal is animated, it opens opportunities to faithfully follow the game’s unique character designs, such as Orphan of Kos and Mergo’s Wet Nurse. The film’s R-rating also helps make cutscenes and battles have more grotesque appearances and bloody action.

Jacksepticeye confirmed the announcement through a recent video update, expressing his excitement for the new film. Previous years were spent pushing for the Bloodborne film project, which earned him the role of co-host producer. There’s more information he’d like to discuss, but they’re currently confidential until further notice. He’s eager to update the public about the film as soon as possible, while showing his desire to make the film as entertaining and faithful to the game he looks up to.

“I will fight tooth and nail to make this thing the best it could possibly be from my standpoint.”
