Play By Play Studios makes its debut contribution to sports fans with NBA The Run. It’s designed as a spiritual successor to NBA Streets, making the basketball court more stylish and aggressive without the limiting rules.
NBA The Run showcased its 3-on-3 online matches with the new In The Zone system, a familiar mechanic that utilizes signature abilities. It functions like a Gamebreaker in NBA Streets, unlocking powerful moves for players who gain enough momentum through big plays, like setting up an alley-oop or breaking defenders’ ankles. Every player is designed with unique signature moves, giving more variety when creating desired teams.
The game offers a selection of rewards for playing in online matches, like the Knockout Tournament. Participating in matches will provide Creds, in-game currency to purchase items at The Shop, such as taunts, jerseys, dunk animations, badges, and banners. The in-game roster can grow when unlocking the most ultimate unlockables: Rookie Variants and Street Legends. Some in-game players are available through The Shop while others are exclusively available by reaching the required ranks.
NBA The Run has already completed the first playtest, though more is on the way for developers to receive more fan feedback. The studio likes to stay connected with the community by posting more updates about the game, including its release date in June 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
