IO Interactive provides new updates for 007 First Light on Switch 2

The delayed Nintendo Switch 2 version of 007 First Light will not release until summer, according to IOI CEO Hakan Abrak. During an interview with Gaming Business, Abrak estimated the Switch 2 version would drop in the second half of summer 2026 and reiterated the importance of strong optimization in James Bond’s return to the Nintendo platform:

“It’s running on the Switch 2; We just want to make sure it’s good as it can be. I don’t want to hear it wasn’t a good version. To be completely honest, we need a bit more time to get it where we want it to be. We said summer. It’s probably going be late summer. But we’re going to get it out; Bond has a special place on Nintendo. And I promise I will do everything I can, and I can do quite a lot being the CEO, to get that in a great shape.”

Since the sale of the Bond IP to Amazon MGM Studios, the future of IOI’s 007 has been unclear; Abrak has previously noted the publisher’s “great relationship” with the new owners. The only factors determining future projects will be financial performance and community response.

Abrak has confirmed continuing support for IOI’s other ongoing espionage title, Hitman: World of Assassination. The upcoming Stone & Knight update, for example, will add co-operative gameplay and missions later this year.

“We are looking forward to get into the weeds with Hitman again. Rest assured we cannot wait to get into the engine room and upgrade, invent and innovate with Hitman.”

007 First Light releases on May 27 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The planned Nintendo Switch 2 release has been delayed to summer 2026.
