Nintendo Switch 2 shows off its extended success for its first fiscal year

The first annual performance for the Nintendo Switch 2 was finally published in Nintendo’s financial reports for fiscal year 2026. It launched with astounding success, and its sales continue to skyrocket, surpassing 19.8 million units.

The overall sales for the Nintendo Switch 2 are exceeding the previous launch sales for Nintendo Switch, showing smaller legs in the current market. Its performance in the fiscal year 2026 has reached below four million units, though its software is still selling strongly with over 136 million sales.

Nintendo recognized its sales pace for hardware will dwindle for the upcoming fiscal year, predicting the latest console to reach 16 million units while the Nintendo Switch will earn just two million. That’s why the company is preparing to increase software sales for the Nintendo hardware with its upcoming first-party lineup, including Yoshi and The Mysterious Book, Starfox, Splatoon Raiders, Rhythm Heaven Groove, and more. There’s also more third-party support coming mainly for the Nintendo Switch 2 within this year.
