Steam Deck receives new price increases of over $200

The current market has been noticeably affecting the costs of hardware parts, especially for Valve’s Steam Deck. The overwhelming demand for AI has forced Valve to take down its PC handheld temporarily to adjust to the expensive manufacturing costs. Once the Steam Deck returned, it’s priced much higher with fewer models, despite receiving no internal improvements.

Valve limited the Steam Deck’s availability to just the Steam Deck OLED, stripping the more affordable LCD version from its store. The Steam Deck OLED only has two selections that rose astronomically by over $240: the 512 GB and 1TB models. The only way for players to get the cheaper Steam Deck models, like the 64 and 256 GB LCD models, is through the refurbished section.

Steam Deck OLED ModelPrevious PriceNew Price
512 GB$549.99$789.00
1 TB$649.99$949.00

There still isn’t a mention for the Steam Machine or Steam Frame, though its prices may be higher than expected due to the current market costs. It was originally supposed to be released in early 2026, though unforeseen circumstances may have changed plans. The company will keep its community updated about the launch and price for the new Steam hardware, making sure its availability is equal between players, similar to the Steam Controller.
