Paladin Studios closes up shop due to lack of new work

After nearly two decades of being in the gaming industry, Paladin Studios is closing up shop as it fails to secure enough work to keep the lights on and operational. Existing games will somehow continue to operate and receive necessary technical support when needed.

Studio co-founder and co-CEO Derk de Geus broke the news on the dev’s website, stating in no uncertain terms that the last few months have been hard and recently, it fell into an “inflection point for our financial security.” The studio is taking proper channels to ensure a winding down period while seeks to offer proper severance and with the studio remaining “debt-free.”

The 19-year-old Netherlands-based studio’s closure means that around 45 people are now out of the job — small fish in the grander scheme of the ongoing layoff spree seen in the industry as of late, but no less disappointing to see.

Paladin’s catalog of games included the Nintendo Switch exclusive, Good Job!, though its primary market fell on mobile titles, like Cut the Rope Remastered, My Tamagotchi Forever, Amazing Katamari Damacy, and more.
