Recent trailers for Gachiakuta: The Game (adapted from the manga and anime of the same name) have focused on the lead cast of fighters, or Cleaners, but a Gamewith interview with Com2us Head of Development Lee Eun-Jae shed more light on the game’s release, design, and world. Here’s what to expect from Gachiakuta: The Game.

The Whole Package
Com2us has a lot of experience with live-service games, specifically in the mobile space with the Summoner’s War franchise; Gachiakuta stands out as the developer’s first wide-release title. A full release on console and PC will allow everyone to experience the game’s visually striking, original art style and engaging anime narrative.
Com2us have developed high-octane action gameplay based around four playable characters with distinct toolkits and abilities. Missions will also be fast-paced, encouraging replayability for high scores and rewards.
“I want to deliver the strong worldview and character narrative of ‘Gachiakuta’ as a complete and densely packed ‘work of art.’”
Each Cleaner expresses their distinct personality through combat, engaging targets with standard and juggle combos, charge and dash attacks, and ultimates; emphasizing Dynasty Warriors style crowd control. Learning the strengths and weaknesses of each fighter will be crucial to winning battles, so we’ve also assembled a helpful summary of each playable character:

Rudo Surebrec
Rudo trades blows with his gloved fists in an aggressive, melee-based playstyle. Upgraded instruments such as the toilet plunger or spiked chains help to expand his ranged abilities. Undoubtedly, his strongest weapon is the enhanced Nail Gun EX which sends an explosive blast towards targets at long range.

Enjin
Enjin wields his trusty umbrella like a sword, or spear, to create distance between himself and opponents; throwing out energy-based thrusts. Thought it takes a moment to charge up, the umbrella also allows Enjin to safely blast enemies from the air.

Riyo Reaper
Thanks to her previous work as an assassin, Riyo spins her unorthodox scissors with deadly speed and accuracy. Though lethal at close-range, she can also extend her attacks with arcing kicks and by throwing her weapon. Similar to Enjin, Riyo can leap into the air and impale her instrument in the ground for an earth-shattering area-of-effect ultimate.

Zanka Nijiku
Zanka is by far the most acrobatic of the Cleaners with mastery over the Lovely Assistaff; his sweeping attacks providing the most reliable way to control large crowds of enemies while still maintaining momentum. Zanka uses the staff’s vibrations to sense enemy behaviour and deploy an unstoppable reaction-based attack with an admittedly small radius.

Grand Battles in Large Sandboxes
Trailers have revealed the grand scale of levels in the Gachiakuta world, deploying a mission-based structure that allows players to set their loadout before landing in a given sandbox. The areas aren’t large enough to be fully open-world but there’s enough room to battle huge crowds of bandits and brutes.

A Faithful Adaptation of the Anime
Com2us has assured fans that they will faithfully adapt the Gachiakuta anime and flesh out the world without doggedly following the original. It is not yet confirmed whether the game’s story will be canon to the anime universe or if it will tell an original story similar to the Land of Wano arc in One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4.
“Fans of the original comics and anime will surely enjoy discovering new stories and gameplay experiences.”
One of the modes confirmed for Gachiakuta: The Game is a new survival mode. Players will construct and upgrade their own base alongside allies old and new. While story mode will focus on the four Cleaners, survival mode will allow the supporting cast to shine in their own narrative, impacting future battles and stories.

Hostile Territory
The current build of the game includes several enemy types ranging from standard bandits to stronger brutes, all surprisingly reactive to their surroundings: they utilize the environment and retreat when overwhelmed by the player. Previous trailers have also revealed the colossal Trashbeasts, monstrous beings formed of detritus and negative thought, and the large scale of sandboxes should provide plenty of room for them to do battle.
Gachiakuta: The Game is slated to release sometime in 2026, with a specific date yet to be announced. See more at AnimeJapan 2026.
