Smash Jump is always on the lookout for new writers to join the team, whether you are an industry newbie or a seasoned vet.
We have a dedicated team of writers and editor all with the same goal — to make Smash Jump soar high.
Game Writer
As a game writer, it’s your duty to cover the backbone of Smash Jump — gaming content. This can range widely from industry news, game reveals, reviews, features (such as listicles, retrospectives, and opinion pieces).
Requirements include:
- An excellent understanding of the English language (preferably American English)
- Access to one or more relevant consoles (Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PS5) or PC
- Ability to access Discord
Nice-to-haves include:
- Prior experience in the gaming/entertainment journalism space
- Prior experience using WordPress
- Capable of capturing footage of games you review or preview for purposes of our video producers potentially making a video adaptation
Film/TV Writer
As a film/TV writer, you are joining the budding new branch of Smash Jump where you’ll focus on covering movies and TV shows in a similar vain as game coverage — ranging from industry news, reveals (film reveals or TV show announcements/season renewals), reviews, and features (such as retrospectives, listicles, etc.).
Requirements include:
- An excellent understanding of the English language (preferably American English)
- Passion for films/TV shows
Nice-to-haves include:
- Prior experience in the gaming/entertainment journalism space
- Prior experience using WordPress
Note: Film reviews are differing and we cannot promise any compensation from things such as theatrical visits, these are done purely at your discretion and we have no expectations of you reviewing movies you had no intention on viewing already.
Video Producer
As a video producer, you’re in charge of producing videos for our growing YouTube channel. This may include original content made for videos and adapting pre-existing content, such as reviews, features, and previews.
Requirements include:
- Willingness to learn video production skills
- Native/fluent English-speaking capabilities
- Access to and generally active on Discord for communication
- Willing to use your full name
- Able to take constructive criticisms from our Video Production Manager and/or other leadership
Nice-to-haves include:
- Experience in video production
- Have experience writing scripts
- Willing to narrate and produce NOTE: Must have decent quality microphone (Blue Snowball or above)
