After the gameplay reveal showed off 007: First Light, senior producer Theuns Smit has confirmed the game won’t dabble in unbelievable gadgets.
As broke by Thumb Wars, Smit confirmed some of the gadgets might be more contemporary than others while some may be a bit bizarre, but nothing “pushing the bar” or going beyond believability.
โSo some of them might be a bit more contemporary. Some of them might be a little slightly more outlandish, but nothing pushing the bar, I would say, outside of believability. Because that is also an important thing coming from Q branch is that this is something that not only they can do and pull off, but in a way that itโs perhaps everyday objects that you wouldnโt expect, and thatโs what Bond then gets to use.โ
Unfortunately, we aren’t really sure the level of “believable” we should expect, as Smit stopped short of sharing that. The entries within Bond have bounced around a bit with some unbelievable gadgets and stuff with Roger Moore and then found a bit more grounded nature under the watchful eye of Daniel Craig.
007: First Light launches to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on March 27, 2026.
