Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 makes its way for next-gen platforms, including the latest Nintendo console

It’s been over a decade since Call of Duty appeared on a Nintendo console. After Call of Duty: Ghosts on Wii U, the demanding Call of Duty games were suited solely for other gaming platforms. It isn’t until Activision recently confirmed Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 coming to Nintendo Switch 2 day and date with other next-gen gaming platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.

The trailer showcases the in-game campaign focusing on two storylines: a young Korean squad attempting to survive in the collapsing frontlines within Korea and Captain Price igniting a war against those hunting him. The darker, dangerous narrative isn’t limited to the Korean Peninsula, but other places as well, like New York, Mumbai, and Paris.

Multiplayer in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 is confirmed to have new gameplay changes for smoother movement and greater control during the more grounded combat. The game is designed with convenient cross-play and cross progression systems, letting players connect across any platform and transfer game data between eligible devices. Players can also enjoy the most exclusive feature during explosive shootouts on Nintendo Switch 2, Joy-Con 2 mouse controls.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 will officially launch on October 23, 2026, with two editions: Standard edition and Vault edition. It’s currently available for preorder across multiple gaming platforms except for the Nintendo Switch 2. The company has confirmed preorder details and other information will be available later in the summer of 2026, including an early beta test. Activision has scheduled the reveal of DMZ in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 on June 7, 2026, which forces players behind enemy lines as an off-the-books asset.
