CDPR exec confirms The Witcher 4 won’t launch in 2026

Fans are no doubt excited for the next entry of The Witcher franchise, The Witcher 4, but sadly, we’ll really have some time to wait. CD Projekt Red co-CEO Michał Nowakowski truly solidified the game, which has been billed as larger than Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3, isn’t gonna be out until 2027.

A recent conference following its Q3 earnings results had Nowakoswski not just reaffirm the game is in full-scale production, but that it won’t comment on the game’s release. On that note, though, he did confirm the game is definitely not releasing in 2026. At least we know the game is in development and from the sound of it at a pace the developer expected.

“As we have already stated, The Witcher 4 is in the full-scale production phase. We’re not disclosing any details regarding the target release date, so there’s not a point in time I could refer to when answering such a question.

The only thing we’re commenting on is that we’re not launching in 2026, and we’re also not typically getting into any specifics regarding technical or design matters. There’s nothing out of the ordinary, I’d say, in that area happening with The Witcher 4 – it’s just full-scale production proceeding at its pace, as per our internal plans. I think that’s as much as we can say.”
