Square Enix is committed to bringing older Dragon Quest games to modern platforms in a style like Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake. Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake isn’t just for newer fans to experience the original Dragon Quest, but veterans as well, with its new expanded content.
The trailer showcases the different additions that freshen the traditional Dragon Quest experience for anyone in both games:
- Exploration in Dragon Quest I has expanded in the remake with more dungeons for new discoveries. There’s also more story to expand the lore in the first original Dragon Quest
- The new combat in Dragon Quest I can host a group of enemies rather than just one-on-one matches. Battles now provide more challenges to test player strategy.
- Princess of Cannock is a new playable character introduced in Dragon Quest II. She can prove her usefulness to the protagonist during exploration and battle with her high-speed agility and mischievous abilities.
- The Ocean Floor is a new explorative world in the remake, introducing new areas. There’s also an expanded story, new traversal methods, Memories of the World, and bosses.
- Tombola is a new mini-game for gambling enthusiasts in Dragon Quest II. Finding tickets during exploration will reward different items and equipment.
- Mini-medals are now available in Dragon Quest I & II within hidden locations. Finding medals will give larger access to exclusive in-game equipment and items
- Sigils are more than mandatory story progression in Dragon Quest II for the remake. Both sigils and scrolls can now provide the main party in Dragon Quest I & II access to new upgrades and abilities, widening the variety in battle strategies.
