Crash 5 was canned for more live service games

It seems that Crash Bandicoot fans canโ€™t catch a break these days.

A new report from Liam Robertson, of DidYouKnowGaming fame, claims that Crash Bandicoot 5 was canceled by Activision in favor of making yet more live service games.

Activision apparently made this decision following the lackluster 5 million copies that Crash Bandicoot 4: Itโ€™s About Time sold. Whilst that may seem a very large sum to many, it pales in comparison to the N. Sane Trilogyโ€™s 20 million copies sold. Funding on this game was pulled and pitches for other single player games such as a new Tony Hawkโ€™s Pro Skater were subsequently shot down.

Details suggested that Crash 5 would have had a setting in a school with villainous children, villains like Dr Neo Cortex and Dingodile set to return, and perhaps the most tragic of all: a Crash and Spyro teamup. As a Spyro fan that’s been waiting patiently for him to return to the spotlight, this one could really hurt. Oh well at least weโ€™ll be getting more indistinguishable live service games in the futureโ€ฆyay!ย
