Elden Ring Nightreign 1.02 patch delayed due to tsunami warning

FromSoftware has made the decision to delay the 1.02 patch for Elden Ring Nightreign following an ongoing tsunami warning in Japan. The path was originally scheduled to come out today.

In a statement (via IGN), the patch, alongside the second cycle of Everdark Sovereign, will be delayed. Luckily, we won’t have too much longer to wait, if all goes well, FromSoft will be releasing the patch tomorrow. This comes after an 8.8 earthquake off Russia’s coast sparked waves and tsunami warnings, even leading to 1.9 million people told to evacuate as 4.2 foot (or 1.3 meter) waves reach the northern Iwate prefecture.

“Due to the tsunami warning following the earthquake near the Kamchatka Peninsula, we have decided to postpone the distribution of the Elden Ring Nightreign Patch 1.02, which was scheduled for today to tomorrow, July 31 (Thursday) after 10am CEST | 1am PDT.

Additionally, the second cycle of Everdark Sovereign, which was scheduled to start at 3am CEST | 6pm PDT (7/30) tomorrow, will also be delayed until after the update file has been distributed.

Thank you for your understanding.”

The 1.02 patch is set to introduce the much-needed two-player mode, allowing for fans to play with just a bud rather than a friend and possibly some random.

In our ELden Ring Nightreign review, Ashton Lovell said: “Despite its glaring flaws, Nightreign is a fantastic experience for long-time FromSoftware and, specifically, Elden Ring fans. At its core, it is more Elden Ring, an automatic positive. When Nightreign is clicking, it soars to some of the highest heights FromSoftware games can get. Taking on tough bosses, collecting powerful rewards, adapting to changes in your build, traveling the lands with your friends, and clutching out a victory against a powerful Nightlord make the runs in Nightreign some of the best experiences I’ve had in a FromSoftware game. At the same time, it does seem like an Elden Ring game first and a rougelike second. Relics and character stories are not compelling systems to encourage continuous playthroughs after you’ve rolled credits.”
