Elden Ring’s meteoric success continues as recent sales data reveal the FromSoftware title saw an almost 500% sales increase following the release of critically acclaimed DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree.
According to data gathered by GamesIndustry.biz, Elden Ring sales in the UK rose 467% month-to-month following the release of the new DLC in June. Presumably, this sales jump correlates directly with the DLC release which requires the base game to play.
The data further showed that, across the entire month of June, Elden Ring rose to become the 4th highest selling video game just behind EA Sports FC24, Grand Theft Auto 5, and recently released F1 24. Hogwarts Legacy rounded out the top 5 for June.
Overall, however, June 2024 was a marked step down compared to 2023. Last year saw the release of major titles like Diablo IV, Final Fantasy XVI, F1 23, and Street Fighter 6. This June’s relatively smaller release schedule is likely the cause for the lower sales numbers.
Nintendo’s biggest release in June, Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, ranked #14 for the month. It is worth noting that this ranking only takes physical sales into account as Nintendo has not released digital sales data.
For hardware, the reporting revealed Sony’s continued dominance in console sales. The PlayStation 5 sold more than the Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch combined. Xbox also saw a slight bump, ranking in second place with the Switch falling to 3rd place.
