Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree recovering from getting review bombed

Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree has been a weird point of contention between more vanilla gamers and the Soulsborne/Soulslike fans. It even got to the point that the DLC’s source material was review bombed over the game’s brutal difficulty. That’s, however, starting to shift.

On Steam, the game was review bombed from people who simply didn’t care for the DLC or the game itself. While the game only fell into the Mixed category, it was still an onslaught of reviews from people unhappy with the game and — more particularly — its DLC. Now, though, it’s starting to move back into the realm of “Very Positive.”

We probably don’t need to tell you that Shadow of the Erdtree, while a fantastic experience, is still just more Elden Ring, which is part of the Soulsborne franchise, a franchise that can cause a bit of controversy due to its difficulty. Granted, it seems like FromSoftware was aware just how difficult it was as a patch was released to soften the game just a tad without breaking the vision by adding difficulty settings.
