Embracer Group shutters Alone in the Dark developer Pieces Interactive

Alone in the Dark developer Pieces Interactive has been shuttered after failing to meet expectations for the March-released revival of the franchise. It’s not the only one to feel the sting of parent company Embracer Group’s studio closures as of late, TimeSplitters developer Free Radical Design, legacy Saints Row dev Volition Games, and the mobile-focused Onoma shuttered.

This isn’t some rumor, this comes directly from the game dev’s own website. Frankly, with Embracer being the biggest offender of layoffs and more or less kicking off the soured few years full of layoffs, canceled games, and studio closures. When it comes to Pieces Interactive, it was acquired in 2017 following Titan Quest: Ragnarök and Titan Quest: Atlantis.

After the acquisition, it took up the mantle of working on Alone in the Dark, which will forever be Pieces’ last game.
