Enjoy the “soundtrack of a generation” in Mixtape next year

From The Artful Escape developer Beethoven & Dinosaur comes Mixtape, a single player narrative backed by Annapurna Interactive. You can expect music from artists like DEVO, Roxy Music, Lush, The Smashing Pumpkins, Iggy Pop, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, and more.

Premiered during Xbox Games Showcase, Mixtape is about a group of high schoolers on their last night of high school. While on their way to their last party, their “perfect playlist” brings them into a dreamlike reenactment of past memories that shaped their lives.

The game’s gameplay features what we take as a wide variety as it’s described as a “mixtape of joyful gameplay” where you can do anything from riding dinosaurs, taking pics of abandoned theme parks, skate, and much more. All the while, you will likely find yourself avoiding the law during this last hurrah.

If it wasn’t clear enough, Mixtape takes inspiration from classic coming-of-age films. There isn’t a concrete release date just yet, but we do know it’s currently planned for a 2025 release year.
