We have reached a revolution in gaming with console exclusives leaving for other platforms. Recently, Gears of War: Reloaded, a remaster of the first title, has made its way to the PlayStation 5. And with it, a slew of trophies for players to unlock. However, there is one particular trophy that reveals something interesting about the possible future of the Gears of War series.

Upon reading or achieving the platinum trophy “Nothin’ Left”, the description reveals something interesting. It says, “Your adventure is over, for now…” Now, while this may seem like nothing, it feels too on the nose. Rather, it could be the possibility of The Coalition letting players know that remasters of the sequels could be coming. Gears of War: Reloaded only remasters the first title. Players have since been curious about when they can experience both Gears of War 2 and 3 in the same fashion. While nothing is set in stone, this tease presents the possibility of more adventures with Marcus Fenix and Delta Squad.
In our review of Gears of War: Reloaded, Chris Melnyk found several faults with the game. Mainly that the tank controls were outdated, not translating well to modern gaming. Furthermore, the audio and even AI being severely broken put a damper on the overall gameplay experience, citing times that teammates would run in circles or against walls, rather than help out. Overall, for a first entry on the PlayStation 5, the game feels like a port instead of a true remaster. Nonetheless, we hold out hope that the Gears future still looks bright with the upcoming Gears of War: E-Day prequel, which is set to grace us sometime in 2026.
