Perhaps unsurprisingly, Rockstar Games’ poster child, Grand Theft Auto 5, has passed yet another milestone — 200 million units sold. This comes as the studio narrows in on a fall release for GTA 6.
During its recent fiscal year report, the New York-based developer revealed specifically GTA 5 has sold 200 million, surging the franchise’s overall sales to 425 million. This is also up from its previous fiscal year report where it sold 195 million units.
Grand Theft Auto 5 is a powerhouse for Rockstar, its business model almost relies on it, with its backup being Red Dead Redemption, but its award-winning sequel pales in comparison to its modern-day counterpart, with a still impressive 64 million units sold, with the series as a whole selling over 89 million units worldwide.
We’re not gonna lie: GTA 6 has big shoes to fill, but we feel like if any series has the chance to keep going up, it’s GTA.
