Rockstar Games has officially abandoned previous-gen consoles as it eyes the newer, shinier generation, which will house Grand Theft 6. While no doubt some people are disappointed in the lack of a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One version on the way, most are likely just shrugging it off.
A recent Take-Two Interactive press release confirmed the platforms that the game will be on, and it looks like it’s heading to consoles first. The press release notes that the game is being developed by Rockstar Games and published by Take-Two with plans to release the title to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Oddly enough, it’s looking like it’ll spend some time as a console exclusive as it makes no mention of a PC version.
Rockstar founder Sam Houser bills GTA 6 as its continued effort to “push the limits” of its open world story-driven games. Naturally, they are thrilled to share this vision with players across the globe.
We won’t lie, if you actually thought the game was gonna get a past-gen release, we’d need you to explain why. Sure Red Dead Redemption’s port was released to the PS4, but that was exclusively a port, a middling, middling port.
“Grand Theft Auto VI continues our efforts to push the limits of what’s possible in highly immersive, story-driven open-world experiences. We’re thrilled to be able to share this new vision with players everywhere.”
