Portkey Games’ mobile Harry Potter game, Harry Potter: Magic Awakened is shutting down for most of the world. It only released last year.
As revealed on its support site (via IGN), the game remain playable for its existing players in the Americas, Europe, and Oceania territories until October 29. After that date, the servers will shut down.
It’s worth noting, though, it isn’t going away everywhere. While Zen Studio’s mobile Wizarding World collectible card RPG is shutting down most everywhere, players in China are in luck. NetEase is responsible for the management of the Chinese version and is keeping the game operational.
Harry Potter: Magic Awakened players are calling on Warner Bros. Games to remedy this short-lived mobile game with refunds, server transfers, or enlisting NetEase to bring the game back to the market outside of China. Unfortunately, chances of refunds or server transfers have already been dashed, but it’s up in the air whether the Chinese game maker could branch out.
