It’s no secret that Helldivers 2 has had its ups and downs, from requiring PSN to play the game on PC (which has since been thrown into the bin) to winning awards (such as Best Multiplayer). Even so, Arrowhead CCO Johan Pilestedt has shared about how many players continue to play it on a weekly basis.
Taking to Twitter, Pilestedt shared about 2.5 million players play every week and that he’s excited to see what sort of spike they’ll get with the Heart of Democracy patch, which adds new weapons, enemies, and customizations.
It’s unclear how long Helldivers 2 will continue chugging along, but it sounds like Arrowhead is in for the long haul, stating as long as people are playing it and buying Super Credits, it’ll continue supporting the game.
In Helldivers 2 review, we said: โHelldivers 2 is the best game of 2024 so far, only being held back by the fact that the small team at Arrowhead Studios was not expecting so many players to flood the servers at launch. Since then, the significant issues have been fixed, and it is clear that Arrowhead is committed to continuing to fix technical problems as well as adding new content like mechs.โ
