Xbox previously released the Xbox ROG Ally handhelds to provide the most demanding games on the go. Itโs the newest device that fits the definition of an Xbox, allowing anyone to play major titles that were formerly Xbox exclusives. While it’s only an Xbox-branded device rather than the official next-gen Xbox hardware, Xbox executives like Sarah Bond are confirming how Xbox will manage support for the current and future generations.
Sarah Bond previewed the Xbox ROG Ally handhelds during the Mashable interview. She was asked to provide any possible details about the next-gen hardware and its relation to the console PC rumors. Since it’s still early in development, she can only describe the next-gen hardware as a โvery premium, very high-end curated experience.โ Xbox’s approach for the upcoming console has some relations with the Xbox ROG Ally handhelds.
Another question Sarah faced involved Xbox’s support for huge exclusives in the future, which she describes as an antiquated idea. Xbox views the industry development differently by providing huge titles for many platforms, similar to bigger games like Call of Duty and Roblox. This strategy also widens Xbox’s audience by emphasizing cross-platform and cross-progression features in big franchises like Gears of War. The company’s future plans for the ideal Xbox experience won’t involve exclusives, but more convenient ways for players to connect within the Xbox community.
โWe’re really seeing people evolve way past that. Like the biggest games in the world are available everywhere. You look at Call of Duty; you look at Minecraft; you look at Fortnite; you look at Roblox. That’s actually what’s really driving the community into gaming. That’s where people gather; they have experiences; and the idea of locking it to one store or one device is antiquated for most people. You want to be able to play with your friends anywhere regardless of what they’re on; and we’re leaning into that with this experience because it opens up another way for you to play.โ
