Since its debut all the way back in 2006, Garry’s Mod has remained a staple of gaming as a whole. As it turns out, its sales numbers definitely reflect that and game maker Garry Newman is glad he did actually put it out there.
On Twitter, it was revealed the game has gone beyond 25.5 million copies sold. Newman also chimed in, noting that he’s glad he was wrong, as when Valve proposed selling the sandbox game on Steam, he questioned, “Who would pay for that?”
This is just the most recent reason the game has been in the news lately, as back in September it was immortalized in the Guinness Book of Records as the best-selling PC game of all time, surpassing even the heavy-hitters like World of Warcraft. Oh, and for those who care, it’s the source of the whole Skibbidi Toilet thing, alongside countless internet memes.
Frankly, the game will likely remain a culturally relevant powerhouse driving itself forward. Meanwhile, it’s enjoying a solid discount until December 4.
