Layoffs in effect at Penny’s Big Breakaway dev

Penny’s Big Breakaway developer, Evening Star, has announced that’s let go of six staffers. The decisions were made based off of the “volatile market conditions in the games industry and operational realities.”

Evening Star’s CTO, Hunter Bridges, revealed the news on Twitter, with more details from its CEO, Dave Padilla, including a direct look at who was affected, on LinkedIn. The bigger picture is the studio was unable to secure a new project to keep the staff it had.

Penny’s Big Breakaway was developed by Evening Star and published under Take-Two Interactive’s publishing label, Private Division. In our review, we gave the colorful platformer a 7/10 saying: “Penny’s Big Breakaway is a stylish 3D platformer with a novel world, that is limited by dodgy control and imprecise platforming.”
