Limited Run Games sells 2 console damaging NES games

Physical game seller Limited Run Games sold Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland and PioPow last year, but it’s come forward that the games may damage NES consoles.

Tech enthusiast John Riggs took to Bluesky to share an email sent by Limited Run expressing these games may not be safe and that, following an investigation, discovered that voltage regulation didn’t match up and prolonged use could damage the console.

My email from Limited Run. Looks like my copy of Rugrats will just stay in the box.

At this time, the game isn’t for sale, but backorders are being filled. Any unshipped carts are going to be re-manufactured. Meanwhile, Collector’s Edition owners will be asked if they want to get the cart at a later date or sent the bits and bobs and the cart later. Oh, and yeah, you could request a refund.

Additionally, any customer who did receive their cart, will be sent a new one that will actually work.
