Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls confirms new bosses for Episode Mode

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls recently revealed a short of Episode Mode, a feature that plays five stories of the canonical teams, such as Knights of Doom and Fighting Avengers. The overall narrative was confirmed to be written by Kieron Gillen, a writer who contributed to both Marvel comics and gaming journalism. He was the co-founder of gaming website Rock Paper Shotgun in 2007, proudly delivering gaming news before leaving his journalist role in 2010 to shift his career as a comic book writer, which conveniently fits with the latest Marvel game.

Episode Mode plays just like any story mode, providing insight into how each team leader discovers their suitable teammates for the tournament in comic book storytelling. As each team reaches the end of the competition, they’re forced to challenge The Promoter and Champion separately. The Promoter uses her staff and magical abilities to mix up her approach through teleportation and projectiles while The Champion mainly depends on his dark powers and close-range hand-to-hand combat.

It’s not confirmed if they’re exclusive to Episode Mode or unlockable characters for the main roster, like Android 21 in Dragon Ball FighterZ. They could become DLC for the game’s upcoming support, similar to Sigma in Marvel vs Capcom Infinite. Both The Promoter and Champion can easily be added to the main roster with their fully established movesets, including ultimate supers.

Arc System Works will continue to reveal more about Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls before its official release on August 6, 2026 to PC and PS5.
