Mortal Kombat 1 will get more content beyond Khoas Reigns

It turns out Mortal Kombat 1 is only in its second year of content, and game director Ed Boon seems to suggest we’ve got a lot more to get excited for. New characters confirmed for the new Kombat Pack are Cyrax, Sektor, Noob Saibot, Ghostface, Conan the Barbarian, and the T-1000, but we’ll get more than that in the end.

During his time at San Diego Comic-Con, Boon spoke about the game’s future (via EventHubs) after its paid story expansion, Khoas Reigns, which not only introduces three of the Kombat Pack characters — Cyrax, Sektor, and Noob Saibot — but also reintroduces the Animalities (via WhoaBit) that were introduced all the way back in Mortal Kombat 3.

It is worth pointing out that while Boon says this is “only year two,” he previously asserted the team was “not even klose” to being done with supporting MK11 back in mid-2020. Fast-forward to mid-2021, and NetherRealm Studios had shifted focus to what would become Mortal Kombat 1.

It’s possible we could see a third year of support and maybe a fourth, but it remains to be seen how many years we actually can expect content to flow.
